Domain is Not Web Hosting Print

Often the concept of domain with hosting are confused. However they are different realities.

Hosting of a web site is carried out on a server of its own (web server or HTTP) where the contents of this website are stored and the same contents are available to the computers that request them through a specific communication protocol, the HTTP protocol.

This process is independent of the domain names and access to its content can be done by indicating only the IP address of this web server.

Because the IP address is difficult to remember, the domain name system allows you to name this IP address, a service that is provided by a name server.

But the domain name resolution service is not only used for access to web sites. Its also used on many services on the Internet, namely e-mail, messaging, peer-to-peer, video-broadcasting and more.
